With over 20 years of extensive trial experience, Ms. Bender focuses primarily on the defense of medical malpractice cases throughout the State of Maryland. She has represented physicians, physician assistants, and nurses in a variety of medical specialties, as well as hospitals and other corporate defendants. Ms. Bender has successfully defended complex, high-exposure cases in Maryland’s most challenging venues. She has also successfully briefed and argued cases before Maryland’s Appellate and Supreme Courts.

Ms. Bender’s practice extends to the representation of physicians and other health care providers involved in administrative proceedings with the Maryland Board of Physicians, Maryland Board of Nursing and Maryland Board of Social Workers. She also serves as the Firm’s managing partner.

A graduate of Princeton University (1990) and Boston College Law School (1993), Ms. Bender is an avid sports fan. After competing for four years as a Division 1 athlete at Princeton, Ms. Bender briefly turned her attention to coaching and served as the head softball coach at Dartmouth College for eight years. She then moved to Baltimore, Maryland to pursue her goal of becoming a trial lawyer.

“What can often get overlooked about a medical malpractice case is the stress and anxiety that a healthcare provider experiences when they are sued. Defendant doctors and nurses are told not to talk to anyone about the lawsuit in order to protect the process. The (almost) sole exception to that rule is their attorney. I take my role and responsibility very seriously and work hard to provide not only the legal representation that is required, but also the empathy and moral support that is needed to let my clients know that they are not alone.”
